Wildlife

Hummingbirds and cardinals are known to be interested in the nectar.  Squirrels may eat the fruits.

Habitat

Dry-moist sites. Upland hardwood forests on fertile mesic slopes and ravines, hammocks, floodplain forests, slope forests, seep slopes, floodplains with short-term inundation.
